Why does Johnson Bros. use AI?

We built Cory to handle questions and booking requests whenever you need — nights, weekends, any time. You still talk to real people. We still show up and do the work. Cory just means you’re not waiting until Monday morning to get an answer.

What an AI assistant can do here

Johnson Bros. publishes a public Model Context Protocol server at https://thejohnsonbros.com/mcp, so an AI assistant you already use can check whether we serve your town, explain the service fee, show live appointment windows, and start a booking that you confirm with a text code, without the assistant guessing from a web page.

Discovery details for assistants are at /.well-known/mcp.json and, in plain text, at /llms.txt. Cory, the assistant on this site, uses the same tools. Here is what they do, in order of how often people use them.

Check whether we serve your town

Give it a town name or a ZIP code and it checks our coverage database for Norfolk, Plymouth and Suffolk counties. A town alone is enough; it only asks for the ZIP when a town is partly covered.

Explain the service fee and give a non-binding price range

It can quote the published service-fee policy and a general range for a type of job. Every range is marked non-binding; the price is confirmed on site before work starts.

Show live appointment availability

It reads the same open arrival windows the booking button on this page uses. Seeing a window is not holding it.

Start a booking request that you confirm by text

After you approve your own name, phone, address, issue and preferred windows, it sends a six-digit code to your phone. The code is your consent; reading it back is what creates the appointment.

Ask the office to call you back

If you are not ready to book, or your address is outside the automatic-booking area but inside Massachusetts, it can log a callback request for the office. A callback is not an appointment.

Look up a returning customer, after a separate text code

A returning customer can ask for saved details and recent service history. Nothing is shown until a code sent to the phone on the account is verified, in that same conversation.

Give emergency guidance and point you to the phone

For a burst pipe, a backup, no heat or a gas smell it gives bounded first steps and tells you to call (617) 479-9911. It is not a monitored emergency line.

How a booking through an assistant works

A booking through an assistant is the same booking the button at the top of this page makes, with the same text-code confirmation; the assistant just does the typing.

  1. 1

It asks whether you have used us before. A returning customer can verify a phone number and skip re-entering the address; a new customer gives name, service address, email, phone and how they found us.

  2. 2

It checks the town and pulls live windows. If the address is in the automatic-booking area it shows the open arrival windows. If not, it offers an office callback instead of a booking.

  3. 3

You approve the details and a code is texted to you. The request is pending at this point. The code expires in ten minutes and allows three attempts.

  4. 4

You read the code back and the server answers. Only "confirmed" with "booked: true" means an appointment exists. "Callback pending" means the office has to schedule it and will contact you. We contact you to confirm timing and details.

What it will never do

The limits below are enforced by the server, not by the assistant's good manners, so they hold no matter which assistant is asking.

  • It cannot create an appointment without your text code. A request without the code stays a request. Nobody, including the office, can turn it into a booking on your behalf through the assistant.
  • It cannot call a callback an appointment. A callback or a pending result is office follow-up and is labelled that way in what the assistant receives.
  • It cannot show anyone's records without a separate verification. Saved details and service history need a code sent to the phone on the account, in that conversation. Public tools return business information only.
  • It cannot cancel or move an existing appointment. Those changes go through the office by phone and take effect when the office confirms them.
  • It cannot dispatch an emergency. For anything urgent it gives first steps and tells you to call (617) 479-9911. Chat and MCP are not monitored emergency channels.
  • It cannot quote a final price. Ranges are non-binding and the service-fee policy is stated as published. The repair is priced in person before work starts.

Prefer to write to a person? The contact page reaches the office directly. Want a sense of the cost before a visit? Send photos through the free photo and video review and a plumber will look. Not sure what to call the problem? Start from the list of every service we offer, or check your town first in the service areas section.

Booking through an assistant: questions

What an assistant can do on this site, and where the line is.

Can an AI assistant actually book a Johnson Bros. appointment?
Yes, with your confirmation. The assistant can check your town, show live arrival windows and send a booking request. The appointment exists only after you read back the six-digit code texted to your phone and the server returns status confirmed with booked true. Anything else, including a pending or callback result, means the office still has to schedule it.
Which assistants can use it?
Any assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol can connect to https://thejohnsonbros.com/mcp. Discovery details are published at /.well-known/mcp.json and in plain text at /llms.txt. Cory, the assistant on this website, uses the same booking flow.
Will an assistant see my past jobs or my address?
Only if you ask it to, and only after a separate verification: a code is texted to the phone number on your account and must be read back in that conversation. Public tools return business information only and never customer records.
Can it cancel or move an appointment I already have?
No. Cancellations and changes go through the office at (617) 479-9911. A message or a callback request does not change an existing appointment until the office confirms it with you.
Does it quote a price?
It can give a non-binding range for a type of job and it states the service-fee policy. The $99 service fee sends a licensed technician out to diagnose the problem. Approve the repair on the spot and the fee is not charged at all; decline it and the $99 covers the visit. The repair price is confirmed in person before any work starts.
What if I am outside the service area?
The assistant will say so. For a Massachusetts address it can ask the office to call you back to see whether a visit can be arranged; it will not book one. Outside Massachusetts it explains that we only serve Massachusetts.
